Artists Henry Peplow

Spending a couple of days with a single onion may seem an odd thing to do, until you do it and find it’s not just an onion, or a peach or a cabbage – it’s quite extraordinary. Henry treats everyday things, mostly fruit and vegetables, as if they were people and paints portraits of them with all their bumps and blemishes. Sometimes they are single portraits, sometimes twos and threes formed into family groups, leaning against each other for support.

Andy Warhol said it best: “I just paint things I always thought were beautiful, things you use every day and never think about.”

I live in Frieth village, just up the hill from Marlow.  I studied design at Kingston School of Art, followed by a career in photography and filmmaking, so I’ve spent my life playing with images! Now I paint and draw full-time.
