Living in Edinburgh, Lesley is inspired by the natural world and likes to immerse herself in the landscape. She has developed a painterly style using palette knives and thick oil paint to capture a scene.
“Painting outside ‘en plein air’ is my favourite thing to do.” Lesley explains. “I get totally engrossed and sit so still wildlife can venture quite close, including deer and even a kingfisher.”
After graduating in Fine Art from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth, Lesley enjoyed a successful career as a medical artist before beginning to paint full-time.
Now, inspired by the Scottish countryside and the splendour of flowers, she finds solace in creating vibrant compositions with broad mark-making and flecks of colour.
