Artists Tamara Williams

My design background informs and influences all my work, from a love of composition and visual space to the energy and freedom of abstract line work.

I work intuitively, seeing more when I’m not focused on the detail with a variety of mixed media on plaster and wood that capture the experience rather than the reality of each landscape. Each painting explores the simplification of pattern, space, colour and texture from the places I have visited. Some of these are specific to landscapes around my studio in Surrey, the South Downs and Devon but mostly they are a visual amalgamation of memories and feelings from one or many places. Tapestry-like landscapes with bold monotone blocks which reflect the shadowy-shape of evergreen trees against more open hills and meadows.

I can be found painting most days in my studio by The River Thames in Shepperton.

Tracey Hayden - Why I Love Tamara Williams

Tamara of our early artists who is very, very popular, not only a dedicated artist, she's a fantastic person. Tamara is so hardworking, she really does take her art seriously. She goes into her studio every single day and works so hard. This is her work ethic, which I feel comes from her time as a creative agency owner and graphic designer.

Her layers and structure, through the use of blues and greens just grab you, and the subject matter of rivers is something we in the gallery are drawn too.

Tamara is incredibly dedicated, I am impressed.

Tracey Hayden.
