“My practice is rooted in the natural world, which I use as a constant source of inspiration and experimentation. Bold colour expressive mark making with a palette knife defines my style. I’m drawn to the interplay of texture, light, pattern, and tone—layering paint to create a vivid, energetic response to my environment. There's a certain joy in working with a large, mixed palette, finding harmony within the chaos. Through my work, I aim to celebrate nature with an equal celebration of colour.”
Venetia was born in Belfast in 1990. She trained in classical portraiture at the Charles Cecil Studios in Florence, before continuing her studies at University College Falmouth and the Heatherley School of Fine Art in London. Her work has been widely exhibited across the UK, Amsterdam, and New York, and she was a featured contestant on Sky
Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year.
Now based in London, Venetia paints primarily from life in her studio, though she is often found working en plein air, capturing impasto landscapes inspired by the dramatic beauty of the Cranborne Chase Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
