About Tamara’s Work

Tamara Williams is a contemporary printmaker, painter, and designer who creates captivating semi-abstract pieces. Her original artwork, inspired by the natural world, uses a variety of mixed media applied to plaster and wood to evoke the essence of landscapes rather than their exact reality.

Each of Tamara’s paintings explore the simplification of pattern, space, colour and texture from the places she has visited. The landscape around her studio near The Thames has a strong influence on her work, along with the coastlines of Cornwall and Norfolk. Mostly, Tamara’s work is a visual amalgamation of memories and feelings from one or many places.

From the studio to the gallery

Owner of Hayden Gallery, Tracey Hayden was immediately drawn to Tamara’s unique ability to capture the essence of nature in such an abstract yet evocative way. Believing Tamara’s art would resonate with a wide audience, Tracey instantly knew she wanted to showcase her work within the gallery.

Tamara’s use of mixed media to convey the energy and emotion of the landscape is extraordinary - it’s about what’s felt, not just what’s seen”, says Tracey.

Tamara studied Graphic Design at Kingston Art College, graduating in 1986. After a few years working at design agencies, she founded her own design company, collaborating with brands both big and small.

Following the sale of her business, Tamara returned to her passion for printmaking and painting, experimenting with textures and mark-making by working directly on plaster, wood, and other natural materials.

Her background in design continues to shape her art, evident in her love for composition, visual balance, and the energy of abstract line work.

We invite you to experience Tamara’s work in person at Hayden Gallery or view her artwork online.
