Richard Whadcock is a new artist here at Hayden Gallery, he is featured in our current summer exhibition and we are thrilled to be exhibiting a number of his dramatic atmospheric landscapes.
His contemporary landscape paintings reflect a sense of place rather than reality and you lose yourself within their beauty. They are mysterious yet elegant; you simply cannot help but be drawn to them.
Richard says “I want the work to draw you in and expand the more you look at it and bring out small subtleties that you may not have seen before” Well, we couldn’t agree more they certainly do!
Based in Brighton with the South Downs and East Sussex coastline on the doorstep of his studio Richard draws a lot of his inspiration from the surrounding countryside. Often working from pictures which he takes back to his studio, using them as a reference and starting point, slowly developing them into the enigmatic pieces we’ve come to love and expect from Richard.
