Beautiful, Delicate and Still
You have got to see these pieces in real life.
Exquisite Hour - we absolutely love this piece and as I look at it as I am writing this (it's just to my right) I’m thinking about the title. I hope I am right. I think Melanie was sitting or laying at the base of a Silver Birch Tree just staring up - luxuriating in the beauty of it. Maybe just getting away from it all. An exquisite hour out of a busy life.
At first I thought it must have been a lovely sunny day, maybe a sandwich and a glass of wine but on closer examination I think it's late autumn as some leaves are blowing away and the tree is becoming bare - Hope she had a coat on!
You will never get bored with this beautiful delicate piece or its sister piece Let Us Dream.
They say you can tell a good actor because they can convey a still-ness (I think of Mark Rylance). Melanie Goemans' delicate art has that sensation of stopped time.
Do come and have a look - spend an Exquisite 5 minutes lost in the Silver Birch Trees in Hayden Gallery
I hope we see much more of Melanie's work in the future.
