As well as being the owner here at Hayden Gallery I am also the artist in residence, splitting my time working in my studio in Marlow and running the Gallery with my family.
From the age of 14 art became my escape and I’d spend most of my time at school in the art room. I did my Illustration degree in Brighton then continued Graphic Design studies in Paris and New York before returning to London to work as a Graphic Designer, which I enjoyed. I left after some years to focus on bringing up my family but art was always something I continued to do, going to classes and always drawing.
My work progressed through many chapters, ranging from illustrative subjects, life drawing, printmaking and 3D wall art to larger sculptures.
Since 2020 I’ve spent time experimenting and developing my technique with the 9B pencil. I love working with pencil, for me, it’s about pushing the boundaries of a simple medium with results that are quite mesmerising. I am really proud of all the recent work I’ve produced from a simple 9B pencil.
My studio, along with the Gallery is based in Marlow, it’s a lovely large calming space which I enjoy being in. Some of my pieces are quite large so I need to have the space to work, I can get quite involved in each piece immersing myself in the process and I can lose hours and hours in my studio.
My dream was always to own an art gallery, I’m thrilled to be able to make that dream a reality. With the help of my family, we run Hayden Gallery and are having so much fun. If you’re ever in Marlow do pop in to have a look around or even a chat, there’s nothing I love more than talking about art and we have some amazing talented artists on display that I would be happy to show you.
